|Well, I got two scholarships at MICA. A $14,000 (over four years) academic scholarship and a $14,000 (four years) Trustee scholarship, which is a combination of artistic and academic talent. |
God. I wish that I didn't get these, because now MICA's in the running again. I know that I only want to be an art teacher, and it's kind of ridiculous to be in debt to NYU all my life on a teacher's salary. MICA's scholarship is actually less than NYU's (my dad harassed them and they upped it to $9,500), but MICA's tuition and board is like half of NYU's to begin with. I want to try to graduate from NYU in three years but then I'd have to go to MICA's masters in teaching program for 2 years- only 1 if I went there for undergrad. Okay, let me do the math.
MICA's overall costs (tuition, room and board, art supplies, etc.) to get my BFA and MAT:
$32,824 x 5 = $164,125 - $28,000 = $136,120
NYU's overall costs for BA + MAT at MICA:
$43,000 x 3.5 = $150,500 + $65,248 (masters at MICA) - $38,000 = $177,748.
